The complex of natural hills located on the premises of the Muju Resort was established in 1990 as a training center for the Korean national team of ski jumpers. In 1997, the Winter Universiade was held at the facilities in Muju. During it, Yoshiharu Ikeda set the normal hill record by jumping 103.5m. After the cancellation of the Continental Cup competition scheduled for the 2000/2001 season, the hills at Muju Resort never again got the chance to host a FIS competitions.
