From skisprungschanzen.com: In April 2024, sensational information appeared about a huge snow ski jump being secretly prepared near the ski lift at Hlíðarfjall in Akureyri, Iceland. This was confirmed on April 23, 2024 by Icelandic public television, also reporting that it was a project of Red Bull Japan, which signed a contract with the city of Akureyri to prepare a ski jump and shoot the video footage. The entire project was aimed at breaking the world record and crossing the 300-meter limit by Ryoyu Kobayashi, who jumped 256 m on the first day of trials (April 23), 2.5 meters further than the world record of Stefan Kraft from Vikersundbakken. On the second day (April 24), the Japanese improved the record three more times, jumping: 259, 282 and finally 291 meters. According to official announcement from the organizers, in the longest jump his speed at take-off was 107 km/h and the flight lasted 8 seconds.
